UNDERGRIND Fitness Client Review

  1. My Why for starting with UNDERGRIND Fitness? To live a healthier lifestyle physically and mentally

  2. What was your journey like with the meal plans? My journey with the meal plans was a challenge and sometimes still is…  I am a very meticulous eater, do not care too much for leftovers, and do not like to cook. In addition, I like to snack. I would rather snack and eat sweets than actually cook a full meal.  Therefore, to have to take the time to plan and prepare meals in advance was a challenge for me. Reading labels and understanding what was truly healthy and what was not, going to no carbs, and not eating after a certain time was hard but the discipline and the results that come out of doing this was well worth it.

  3. What was your journey like with the fitness plan? My journey with the fitness plan was not as hard as I expected it to be; I initially started with just cardio and then we added weight training and different forms of cardio.  To see improvements in lifting heavier weights, actually physically running, increasing my speed, and decreasing the time is amazing and uplifting because I know that what I am doing is actually working.

  4. What is your review of Coach T? Coach T is Coach T! I love that she is real! When I say real…she has her challenging days as well and she does not hide that just because she is a trainer. She will hold you accountable and be honest with you. She challenges you to push yourself. I like that she pays attention and works out with you as well. Sometimes some trainers will just stand there and watch you however she trains with us, shows us the move, and corrects us on form, going up in weight, and if we are talking let us know the workout isn’t hard enough. Not only does she provide guidance in being better physically. She is a great support person mentally and in our personal lives always providing encouragement and prayers and checking in on us. She is an added blessing to my life including my family.

  5. What would be your best advice to give to anyone considering training with UNDERGRIND Fitness? My Best advice to anyone considering training with UnderGrind Fitness is to just be open to the changes/challenges that you will face and to be ready; actually ready and committed. It’s not going to be easy, some days you will want to quit, some days you might not have a word for Coach T, and some days you will fail in your meal plan or not go to the gym but get back up the next day and start over. We aren’t perfect but your life is in the midst of a change that is going to change your life forever physically and mentally

  6. What has been your biggest challenge on this journey? My biggest challenge on this journey I would say would still be meal plans. Lol...some days I want all the carbs, some days all the sweets, and some days I just want to go through a drive-through. I have done all that and regret it when I am sick the next day, bloated, or wasted all that money and the food was trash, or I did not hit my weight goal.

  7. How long have you been with UNDERGRIND Fitness and what successes have you achieved during your journey? I have been with UnderGrind Fitness for a year and 4 months.  I have achieved many goals and successes during this journey. I met my initial weight loss goal of losing 50 pounds. I went from a size 16 to a size 10. I can easily drink a gallon of water in a day. I am averaging at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep; when I first started, I got at the most maybe 5 hours of sleep. My skin is clearing up due to eating healthier and staying hydrated. I have learned that I need to take care of myself first. My children look at me as a role model and they have started eating better wanting to take walks, stretch with momma, use her foam roller, or “Let’s do some yoga mommy”. Not only am I looking better physically, but mentally I am better I have developed better self-confidence, and I have learned to set boundaries.

UNDERGRIND Fitness Client Review

1.)  My Why for starting with UNDERGRIND Fitness? My why for starting with UnderGRIND Fitness.  I had been on other healthier lifestyle journeys before, but I lacked the accountability needed to really be successful with weight loss and exercise.  In 2022 I joined a gym and worked out a lot, but didn’t have a good dietary plan.  The results were minimal.  The gym closed in Dec 2022 and I started going to Planet Fitness intermittently.  I happened to see two ladies that I used to work out with at the previous gym and they looked fabulous!  I asked them what they had been doing and they connected me with Tommie of UnderGRIND Fitness.  I started in the next few weeks and have not regretted one moment.

2.) What was your journey like with the meal plans? Starting a meal plan that cuts out a lot of unhealthy foods is tough.  I struggled a little in the beginning but honestly, it’s a mind-over-matter situation.  Once you get accustomed to eating less junk the benefits outweigh the instant gratification.  Tommie tailored my meal plan to my goals and it’s been awesome.

3.) What was your journey like with the fitness plan? I really love physical fitness and the added bonus of working out with Tommie and the early birds has been life-changing, to say the least.  Knowing that someone else is waiting on you at the gym really holds you accountable for showing up.  Not only for myself but also for the team.  Tommie really challenges you to push yourself out of your comfort zone when it comes to physical fitness.  She is able to integrate a lot of different workout routines which keeps it interesting.

4.) What is your review of Coach T? Review of Coach T- Encouraging, motivating, engaging, and communicative.  She shows up for herself and sets the example for the team 😊

5.) What would be your best advice to give to anyone considering training with UNDERGRIND Fitness? The best advice that I have for anyone considering training with UnderGRIND Fitness is to give yourself a chance to transform both mentally and physically.  Be prepared to challenge yourself and reach new heights in your overall well-being.  It is definitely worth it.

6.) What has been your biggest challenge on this journey? My biggest challenge on the journey has been giving myself grace.  It is easy to get discouraged when your weight loss numbers are not going down or going down as quickly as you would like.  There are also times that I have been off-track with the meal plan- especially during the holidays.  Forgiving yourself and staying on the journey is the best advice that I can give.  It is not a diet plan but rather a lifestyle change.

7.) How long have you been with UNDERGRIND Fitness and what successes have you achieved during your journey? I have been with UnderGRIND Fitness since July 2023.  I have lost quite a bit of weight, cut fat, and built muscle.  I have also gained self-confidence in myself that when I put my mind to achieving something I am able to get it done.  Kudos and thanks to UnderGRIND Fitness.  I definitely would not have been able to see this type of progress on my own.

UNDERGRIND Fitness Client Review

  1. What was your why for starting with UNDERGRIND fitness? I had just gotten out of an unhealthy relationship, so I wanted to continue to break my unhealthy relationships with food, sleep, water, exercise, and people. I was at my highest weight ever. At 5’2, I weighed almost 210lbs and my face hurt because of how big I had gotten. I had to buy new clothes because nothing fit. My confidence had plummeted, so my goal going into 2023 was to go to the gym once a week lol not sure what I planned to get out of one day, but I wanted to start somewhere and Tommie challenged me to 3 days and I don’t think I realized it until months later.

  2. What was your journey like with the meal plans? I went from eating out multiple times a day, never cooking, rarely drinking water, or eating a home-cooked meal and eating dessert with practically every meal to learning how to prepare steak, make salmon, and meal prepping.  I must be honest. I teeter-tottered quite a bit once the weather started getting warm and my weight went down. During the winter, I sat still more, but when it warmed up, I am usually out trying to travel. My taste buds changed significantly so the fast food I once enjoyed didn’t make me feel like it used to. It was no longer satisfying. I felt personally guilty afterwards because I knew it wasn’t worth the setback I was going to see on the scale. The meal plan also encouraged me to read labels and try to understand them better. Cutting out the sweets/desserts after every meal was very difficult. It is still a struggle, but having a meal plan keeps me accountable. And in the rare times that I really felt like I didn’t have a choice, Tommie always provided me with the healthiest alternative.

  3. What was your journey like with the fitness plan? I enjoyed my fitness plan. Tommie always made sure it was tailored to me and made sure to include workouts for my personal physical areas of improvement. I do not grasp things well and when something doesn’t feel right, I get discouraged. I am not a visual or auditory learner, so I felt very blessed to have a trainer in the gym with me working out and showing me the correct way to do the moves. As time went on, Tommie increased her physical expectations of me. I have always been a walker because of my knees, but by the end of the year, I was running half a mile. I appreciate that Tommie will push us, but she will also remind us to listen to our body. There is always a healthy balance.

  4. What is your review of Coach T? Coach T has really been a blessing to me. She took me under her wing and really trained me when she saw me lacking understanding. Before Coach Tommie, I was training with a coach who wasn’t responsive and as a beginner who really isn’t familiar with more than the treadmill, it was imperative that I was able to ask questions and receive feedback quickly or I would just stand still or do what I know. The daily weight check-ins kept me accountable because I didn’t want to have to explain the increase, but I was also proud to share when there was a decrease. She gets in there and does the work with us and has created a family atmosphere for us. Her workouts are effective and timely. If you show up for yourself (and her), she will show up for you, even if you’re the only one there. She has given me a lot of great insight/advice, but the one that I recall daily is “Don’t expect results for the work you didn’t do”.

  5. What would be your best advice to give to anyone considering training with UNDERGRIND Fitness? I have said some of this before. But prepare yourself to get a little uncomfortable to get what you want. Show up for yourself and Tommie will show up for you. You can’t outwork a bad diet. So please know that what you put in your body is more than half the battle. The time you invest in yourself at the gym, will not compare to the time when your mind is idle, and you want to snack. Find healthy alternatives. Expect to be challenged by Tommie but rewarded with results. Sometimes it isn’t immediate, but it goes back to what we consume. Do not be discouraged. Muscle weighs more than fat. Look at the way clothes feel and look. I had hit a point where I wasn’t losing weight, but my pants sizes were shrinking. I am back down to wearing a medium in shirts and I went from a 38 pants to a 32/34 depending on the material. Lastly, “Don’t expect results for the work you don’t do”.

  6. What has been your biggest challenge on this journey? This journey has been a process for me. At every stage, everything has been a challenge. I didn’t work out. I went out to eat multiple times a day. I never cooked, rarely drank water, or stayed still long enough to eat at home, and believed in eating dessert with practically every meal. On top of all this, I barely slept. I have always had a hard time going to sleep which made it difficult to get up on time for training. On a good night, I was averaging 3 to 4 hours of sleep. My biggest struggle used to be water intake. It is still a challenge, but I would say I was really a mess before Tommie got a hold of me.

  7. How long have you been with UNDERGRIND Fitness and what successes have you achieved during your journey? I have been with UnderGrind Fitness since Feb 2023 technically, but Tommie really took me under her wing around mid-January 2023. So we have been working out together for a year. Since then, I have lost over 30lbs and I’m right outside of my goal to be in the healthy body fat category. I have been considered morbidly obese for far too long. I get more sleep, cook, meal prep, and overall make better food choices. My face has cleared up. I am back to a medium in shirts and my clothes just fit better. I look better. After getting out of an unhealthy long-term relationship, all the changes that I had to make to get the results I wanted came from Tommie and my UnderGrind Fitness family. I can’t thank Tommie enough for helping me get my confidence back. She’s truly been a blessing and reminded me over and over to fight for my life.
